Art History Lecture
Breaking Through the Barrier: Women Artists in the Renaissance and Baroque
Friday 17th July
Tutor: Bob Cook
2 – 4pm

During these periods, artists were almost exclusively male. Women were presented with two choices in life – to marry and probably have lots of children or to enter a convent.

This class will explore the life and work of some of the few women who defied convention and established themselves as serious artists. We will see that the quality and inventiveness of their paintings was at least as good as the finest of their male counterparts.

Fee: £45
