LINO PRINTING

Tutor: Eleanor Mulinder
Wednesday afternoons 1 – 3.30pm

DURATION: 10 weeks
Fees: £96

This is a 10 week hands-on course where you will learn how to carve and print a multicoloured linocut by hand. You will be guided through the process of designing, carving and printing your own series of reduction prints.

You will learn how to create, carve and print your own multicoloured reduction linocut during this course. In reduction lino the design is produced from one single lino block, layering up the colour each time the lino block is cut. It is an interesting and challenging technique to learn and by the end of the course there will be little left of your lino block. On completion of the course you will have a small edition of your own colourful prints and the knowledge and skills to continue your lino printing journey at home. You may wish to bring some of your own images to work from, however plenty of inspiration will be at hand to help you decide.

About the tutor - Eleanor has been teaching for 30 years and has a BA Honours Degree in Graphic
Design from Glasgow School of Art. She is the joint owner of Wee Bothy Art which she runs with her
daughter Holly. More of their work can be seen at www.weebothyart.com and on Instagram

Art is said to hold a mirror up to life - although the reflection isn't always a true or full one. From the 19th Century, patrons were keen to buy art that depicted life in a realistic way and documented change and progress.
Ford Maddox Brown, Laura Knight, Hubert von Herkomer and Stanley Spencer are just some of the artists we will consider when we look at everyday life and work captured in art.
